Subject: Post Convention Malcolm Madness!
Date: Fri, 11 June 2004
"Prepare for slapstick mayhem as he [Malcolm]
and his friends catapult from
one disaster to the next in this riotous comedy...extremely funny" -
Broken
Frontier (www.brokenfrontier.com)
Yes folks, it's true! We're officially making waves in comic book
land!
(...well maybe 'ripples' is closer to the truth but they have great
aspirations....).
Two weeks have passed since Blink Twice and Malcolm Magic attended
that
behemoth of UK comic culture that is the Bristol Convention. The result?
Malcolm made A LOT of new friends!
But before we get into all that gubbins here's a taster of what's coming up:
* Bristol Convention - photos, fun, frolics and thanks galore!
* The Malcolm Sketchbook Sells Out!!!
* The most talked about Malcolm project to date...oo-er!
* COMPETITION DEADLINE!!!!

Bristol Convention, 29-30th May - (photos of Me, Rose and the stall
here -

I must start first of all by thanking every single comic buying soul
who
spent 2 days trekking round the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum
spending hundreds upon HUNDREDS of pounds on this frequently marginalised
art form. We love you all you crazy kooks. You keep us in socks. In
particular I wish to thank those proud owners of Malcolm Issues 1,
2 and 3
who had absolutely no intention of purchasing anything from our stall
and
yet were bullied into collecting the entire set by either myself, Lorenzo
or
Mark.
Here are a couple of my favourite sales from the weekend:
Comic Buyer 1 - "If I buy all your comics will you stop talking?" (aimed
at
Mark and Lorenzo I hasten to add!!!)
----------------
Comic Buyer 2 - "I think I'll pick up a copy of Malcolm because
it's lighter
than some of the other comics on sale."
----------------
Comic Buyer 3 - "I don't buy comics about talking animals...
(10 minutes of me convincing him that it doesn't actually contain any
animals)
Comic Buyer 3 - "...oh alright then, I'll take all three."
Genius!
It was great to meet so many enthusiasts and introduce Malcolm to
lots of
new people. Your positive responses to our titles have inspired us
to try
and push the writing and art to the next level. Oh yeah and my tip
for
anyone who didn't get around to Roger Langridge's stall is to check
out his
phenomenally amusing Fred the Clown series as soon as you can.
(http://homepage.mac.com/hotelfred/index.html) That's one talented
chipmunk.

Sketchy Sketchy Sketchy
The fan favourite of the convention was without a doubt the ultra
limited
edition Malcolm Magic Bristol Convention Special Sketch book. What
a
title..... We took 50 of these little numbered and signed beauties
with us,
the only condition being that in order to get your sticky mitts on
one you
needed to purchase Issues 1, 2 and 3...no real incentive needed then!
2 days
later and guess what? They were all gone! That's right! No more. This
most
limited of limiteds is now impossible to acquire unless you can find
one of
the 50 lucky owners and prise it from their paws... but I don't fancy
your
chances!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Triangle, Triangle, Zquare!
If the Sketch book got the purchasing monkeys excited then the Blink
Twice/Kennel17 computer game had them practically slavering! Mark spent
the
best part of the weekend fielding questions about our latest project
under
development. Entitled 'Malcolm Magic and the Very Cherry Sherry', and
currently scheduled for a January 2005 release through our website
(www.malcolmmagic.com) this looks to be something quite special. Don't
you
worry now, we'll keep you posted on all game updates...
