I just finished issue #5. The whole issue was a furious, madcap adventure. [The] guys did a great job catching up readers and filling in on earlier events. The pace of the story was fast moving, but there is a lot of text packed in to make sure readers get their money's worth. Those pages are creamy and thick too! I kept thinking that I was turning two (or three) pages stuck together. These books look great!
Favourite moments were the frog guy hurling insults at the snake guard and the cliff-hanger ending...Not their old school! Not their old class! Say it ain't so...
[Addendum - 18th January 2005]
I did read issue five of a comic called Malcolm Magic from Robin and Lawrence Etherington and I haven't mentioned it yet. I think I called this "madcap fun" or something or other when I first read it, but it's really just a furious and entertaining comic. I haven't read all of the issues before this issue, but I never really felt lost. In the latest issue of Malcolm Magic, a group of animals, including a rabbit that may or may not be an alcoholic and a bear with a Russian accent, try to escape from the underground lair of a band of evil snakes. After a mad row and chase through claustrophobic tunnels, they do barely escape, but the last page proves there is much more trouble ahead and it involves their old school! Robin and Lawrence are based out of the UK, so US readers might not see this on the shelves of your local shop, but you can pick up your copy of any issue (and preview the issues) at the Malcolm Magic Store. I suggest you check out the generous previews and decide for yourself.
